Houses of Worship

Houses of worship experience emergencies everywhere, every day; whether medical, fire or acts of violence. Staff and members will respond to the emergency. They will call 911 or administer first aid or utilize a fire extinguisher. The goal of SHS is to help provide structure and ideas to decrease the time of response and increase the degree of success whenever that emergency happens.

What can SHS provide for my house of worship?

There are three (3) options available.

Option 1: Active Shooter Training. This training will cover the latest nationwide statistics as well as how to respond when an act of violence takes place. We will also cover how to detect potential acts of violence and how to defuse it. This option lasts about an hour and is done in an area that can accomodate your congregation (ie. sanctuary, fellowship hall or large classroom). This option does not require a previsit.

Option 2:  Security/familiarity Walkthrough and Active Shooter Training. This option can take from 1 to 2 hours depending on the size of your facility. This will need to take place 1 to 2 weeks prior to the scheduled presentation to your congregation, board or staff. We will provide suggestions to better serve your congregants. This can vary from altering flows of traffic to capital improvements to your facility. This presentation can be held before or after the Active Shooter presentation.

Option 3: Security/familiarity Walkthrough, Active Shooter Training AND  Beginning a Safety Ministry. It has been my experience that most Houses of Worship are reluctant to have a "security team." We provide training for what we call "Safety Ministry Teams." Providing care for your congregants and visitors IS a ministry and should be treated as such. This option is for H.O.W. that want to start or have this type of ministry already in place and want to augment their training. The training day will be 5-6 hour session that covers...
