Scott was born and raised in a small mill village outside of Asheville, North Carolina called Swannanoa.
After high school, he attended Mars Hill College majoring in Religion. MHC (now Mars Hill University) is where he met his wife Wendi. After receiving his BA, he attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where he received his Masters in Christian Education.
After serving in several churches in Kentucky and North Carolina for over 19 years, his life took a new direction. While serving as chaplain for Cleveland County Sheriff's Office, he was drawn to the ministry of serving others in the field of law enforcement.
He began his law enforcement career in 2004 with the Gastonia Police Department.
He is currently a Sergeant in the Community Coordinators Division with more than 15 years of experience. He is currently a member of the GPD SWAT Team for over 13 years. Being a member of GPD SWAT has afforded him unique opportunities to be trained by FBI HRT as well as a member of the US Navy SEAL Team 6.

Scott is a NRA Certified Firearms Instructor with emphasis on rifle education and instruction.
Scott and Wendi have been married over 31 years. They have three children and two grandchildren.
Sarah Norton Camp, EMT-P
Sarah was born in Shelby, North Carolina. She received her certification in Paramedicine from Cleveland Community College and served Gaston County EMS until starting her family in 2018. While at GEMS she was awarded Gaston Emergency Medical Services 2015 Outstanding EMT as well as earning four (4) Delivery Coins and two (2) Cardiac Arrests Saves Coins as a Paramedic.
“I love to teach others about emergency situations and what to do when one occurs. My favorite thing about my job is thinking on my feet...all high pressure and high stress situations.”
She is married to Seth Camp of Shelby, NC. Together they have two sons, Gabe (20 months) and Lukas (8 months).
Sarah assists with Safety Ministry Seminars in educating team members on medical issues they may encounter.
